The “Apoema” project, carried out by the Fundação Fé e Alegria Brasil, with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, looks after 200 boys, girls and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 15 from the outskirts of Manaus, offering complementary school activities at the Grand Victoria Educational and Cultural Social Center.
Workshops which address themes such as sex education, the rights and duties of children and adolescents, the environment, and values such as social harmony and culture, are offered throughout the year. In addition, the students look after a vegetable garden which not only supplies some of their dietary needs, but also creates awareness of the importance of correct nutrition for their development.
The Fundação Fé e Alegria Brasil has been carrying out its work in Brazil since 1981, where it works in 21 municipalities in 16 states. Its projects have benefitted nearly 21,000 people.
