The “Alfabetizaçao em Destaque” project, developed by the Centro de Promoção Social Bororé, promotes socio-educational activities as a complement to school for children under the age of 14. This project takes place in Socorro Capilla, located in the south of Sao Paulo, a city mostly populated by families who migrated from other parts of Brazil in search of a more prosperous future.
Currently 210 boys and girls directly benefit from these activities which are an alternative way of keeping them away from an environment of great social vulnerability and poverty.
Fundación MAPFRE collaborates with the Centro de Promoção Social Bororé in granting the youngest children in these families access to all the activities taking place at the center. This way they aim to encourage the children to participate in community life, to become aware of their capabilities and value their cultural identity.
To achieve this, they can participate in workshops on sports, visual arts, citizenship, schools of thought and the preparation needed for their first work experience. They will work on skills such as creativity, concentration, team work and discipline, with the aim of self-sufficiency and being able to take charge of their own future.
